Two faces emerging from the slices of a birch tree branch- A study with eggtempera on male faces, with colours used on byzantine iconography. I took the liberty of using the byzantine technique two portray two imaginary male faces- I wanted to work on expressions and I also wanted to work in some shades of blue.

The thin slice of a wooden branch (measuring 25 cm x 7 cm approx) was specially treated with gesso and sandpapered to acquire a surface for painting. Several layes of egg tempera where applied and finally shellac and resin varnish have sealed the colors.

Each icon comes with a glued (like a stamp) hanger assorted with its handmade felt bag, certificate and little extas- ready for a very special gift.
