St Olga of Kiev- mini icon of the Russian Saint - eggtempera on ply wood holy iconography made in Greece

Share:

Saint Olga of Kiev. A regent famous for her beauty, spirit and resilience, a woman that was the founder (along with her grandson) of Russian Christianity and the first Saint of Russian Orthodox Church. The icon sows her as the founder, holding a church with a golden dome, and a cross in her hands

One of the Mini Female Saints I like to work on .The miniature is painted  with egg tempera in small gessoed wooden panels with size:18.5x6cm

The name of the saint -- I Aghia Olga-- is written with red egg tempera on her right and left side with medieval byzantine characters. Copper metal leaves (imitating gold) are added as a background. Shellac and resin varnish are added on top to seal the colors and produce a miniature icon that will last

<3 Gift Wrapping: The icon is complemented with an organza bag/ tulle sachet (decorated with a handmade crocheted ornament) suitable for gift wrapping.
