St Efraim and Saint Isaac the Syrians, Contemporary sacred art- holy iconography and Theology - Desert Fathers

A  "remake" of an older work of mine. I ve worked in a a more "warm" set of colors to create another venerated St Efrem a great hymn- writer and a bright example of ascetic life and a monumental figure of  Christianity St Isaak the Syrus . 

The thin slices of a wooden branch (mesuring 25 cm x 7 cm approx) were specially treated with gesso and sandpapered to acquire a surface for painting. Several layes of egg tempera where applied and finally shellac and the traditional wax varnish have sealed the colors.

The icons comes with a glued (like a stamp) hanger assorted with their handmade felt bag, certificate and little extras- ready for a very special gift.
