Saints Martha and Mary of Bethany sisters of Lazarus eggtempera on driftwood

A set of two miniature byzantine icons of Saints Martha and Mary of Bethany. I love to paint these friends and disciples of Jesus Christ, sisters of Lazarus saints that are celebrated seperately and as part of the seven Holy Myrrh-bearers.

The saints are hand painted on two small icon boarda  made out of driftwood -  Several layers of egg tempera were applied , a. Finally shellac and wax varnish have sealed the colors to produce an original artifact that will last.
