Saint Oswald of Northumbria The painted is executed with egg tempera  on a small piece of wood , to make an small portable keepsake

The dimensions of this light piece are 5x6cm and can be compared with my hand in the pics andis approx5x6 cm . This small piece of wood was prepared with gesso. Several layers of egg tempera and a golden halo. Finally the icon was varnished on the top, with shellac and resin varnish to last.
