Saint Macarius and the Cherub- Traditional inspired byzantine art- Abba Macarius the Great mixed media on wood

Abba Macarius the Great and the Cherub- A great monastic figure of Egypt and of all Christianity. I used a theme of the Saint meeting the Cherub based on a representation of an old icon found in St Catherine's Monastery in Sinai Peninsula. 

The icon is painted on a gessoed icon board that measures 25x35cm and is 15mm thick . The background, made with copper, is processed (with sandpaper and a colored dye) in order to make the icon look antique

Additionally the icon comes wrapped in fabric , with some exrtras from our shop. Perfect for a very personal gift
