Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Iconographic Tradition implies that the Saint is dressed like a Princess with rich clothes, wearing a crown, holding the instruments of her torture (a wheel with nails on), symbols of her education, the Crucifix and a palm leaf, a sign of her sainthood. 

The icon is painted with eggtempera. The name of the Saint is written in Greek "Aghia Aikaterina" on each side. The icon board has a partial layer of gesso and a partial handcarved decpration- The background is been made with copper gold 9and a layer with organic dye that makes it look like an old folk piece).  Finally, the colors are sealed with shellac and resin varnish, to create a spiritual artifact that will last.

The icon measures 19x24 cm approx. ands is 9mm thick
