Saint Basil the Great mini byzantine icon hand-painted egg tempera on plywood original medieval art Greece

Saint Basil the great painted by hand in a  byzantine icon. A Saint that belongs among the great figures of our church, the Greek "Santa" with his carols being sung all over the country

The representation is made in a thin plywood board  measuring  10x14 cm and is 9mm thick
Each of our icons is painted by hand according to the rules of the old byzantine art of hagiography or else holy iconography. In this ancient technique we are using the egg tempera on a plastered wooden panel we made our selves. After painting, the icon is varnished (this one has the traditional mixture of wax and resin) to seal the colors and produce an artwork that will last.

Additionally the icon comes tenderly protected in its individual bag, together with its instructions how to care for it, and some mini extras from our shop - Ready to be used as a gift
