Share:

An old iconographic type named Anapeson, or Reclining Infant Jesus- It represents the fulfillment of the messianic prophecy in verses 9-12 of the 49th chapter of the book of Genesis. In those Jacob announces the future of the tribe of Judah, from which it will come the Messiah (heralding the advent of the Passion and Resurrection)

Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? (KJB -Genesis 49:9)

 Size:

The icon is painted by hand in a wooden panel 15mm thick and size 19x25 cm.

The Christigram ICXC (Iesous Christos)  is written with egg tempera  and Greek byzantine characters.

Our icons are drawn according to the rules of the old art of holy iconography. In this technique we are using the traditional egg tempera (that we produce from a mixture of pigments, egg yolk and vinegar) plastered wooden panel and gold metal leaves. After painting, the icon is varnished (with a natural resin varnish) and then we leave it to dry for several days to produce an artwork that will last.

<3 Gift Wrapping: Our icons are complemented with handmade sleeve  and our shop's little extras very suitable for a very personal gift
