A portable mini icon of St  Pisits the Faith. The Saint is pictured separately from her sisters with the cross (her symbol) hanging as a necklace. The garments are in pastel tones,  the halo is gilded with copper gold (with an antique patina) The name of the Saint is written on the sides in Greek Lettering

A vivid memory of my childghood was the imaging of the three little saints (Little Pistis with the Cross, Love with the Heart and Ηope with the anchor) one of the beautiful lithographies decorating my grandmas home- I wanted to pay a tribute to this

The size of the irregular sized wood (a slice of birch) is 9x9 cm  approx ans is 10 mm thick

The technique we are using for the creation of this portrait is the same that were used for centuries in traditional iconography. It is named egg tempera technique. A  mixture of pigments, egg yolk and vinegar produces the color that is applied in many layers in a plastered  wooden panel. After the painting  the icon is applied gets shellac on top (an organuc varnish) and then  a natural resin varnish to last for generations.

The painting is packaged with its own bag, together with some extras from our shop. Perfect for a very personal gift
