Icon of The Good Shepherd - Jesus Christ Painting Parable of the lost sheep OOAK egg tempera painted in eucalyptus wood Christian art and symbolism of the Old and New Testament
The Good shepherd. -One of my favorite images of the Lord. There are many instances where in Old Testament the saviour is refferd to as shepherd but I like to believe that this image is based on the parable of the Lost Sheep on Luke 15:6 "...Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost./ Συγχάρητέ μοι ὅτι εὗρον τὸ πρόβατόν μου τὸ ἀπολωλός..."
The piece of wood measures 20x 16x4cm. The size of this artifact can also be seen in relation with my (small) hans in the last pics.
The icon was created with egg tempera in a slice of eucalyptus wood branch that was specially treated before gessoed. On top of the colors shellac (goma laca) and a final layer of varnish was used to permanently seal the colors.
The icon will be specially packaged (it weights about 1kgr)
