Crucifixion Icon, Painting of the Passion of Christ -eggtempera on plywood sacred art and hagiogrphy

A Contemporary approach of an older icon, a fragment of the icon of Crucifixion from the Cretan school of iconography
The color language is altered,  but I still believe that the feelings created by this scenes are communicated

The icon is painted in a hard birch plywood icon board measuring 22x28 cm

The icon board was treated specially with several layers of gesso and then painted with egg tempera. Colours were sealed first with shellac, then with bee-wax varnish

The icon comes protected in its own hand-made fabric sleeve, assorted with some extras from our shop.
