A big coptic piece, inspired by an icon that we proudly have in our collection. It is separated in two parts. The first represents Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus risking everything to give Jesus teh propel burial (in the company of angels)- The second the soldiers lying down like dead after the resurrection 

A piece that is inspired from the Coptic orthodox tradition of iconography and in particular the beautiful art of Ethiopia.- Religious art that is geometric, almost primitive, yet very potent- Here the simplicity of forms and the vividness of the colors used, further underlines the symbolic, spiritual message of the painting.

Size:
The icon is painted on a wooden panel 15mm thick that measures 60x25cm- The technique used is egg tempera on wood - the traditional technique for byzantine icons
