A Contemporary Beautiful Gate with Evangelismos - Royal Doors Abstract Twofold with Annunciation icon- two pieces Archangel Gabriel and Theotokos Mary OOAK painting Eggtempera on Eucalyptus

These two chunks of Eucalyptus wood looked like the Royal Doors, or the Beautiful Gate (in Greek). The scene of Annunciation/ Evangelismos is the representation that is painted on this main entrance of the altar on an Orthodox Church thats what these two slices of wood looked like , so I decided to paint these representation on them with clean and bright colors,

This two- piece (an abstract form of a twofold) is meant to be displayed standing- it measures  approx 13 height x10 width x4 length (or the wider sides) The two pieces of Eucalyptus were specially treated (left two dry for some seasons, disinfected and heavily sandpapered) , then gessoed and then painted with bright eggtempera colors. Finally the colors were sealed with shelac and resin varnish for the top and  wood varnish for the back and sides

The icon is carefully packaged and send along with its own wrapping and some mini extras from our shop, perfect for a very personal gift
